so I work in an industrial Plant and My wife does EPA and OSHA for a living. What this means is we know how much crapola is in city water systems ... even ones that have a "superior" rating here in Texas.
Well long story short we are having a whole house filtration and treatment system installed this evening. it is costing us about $7000 financed out for 10 years. really not bad for a 2000 Sq Ft 4 bedroom 5 bathroom home, with 3 teenagers.
but to really tell you why I would put in a water treatment system, it had nothing to do with the sales mans spiel or the water tests he showed us (as I said we both already knew what was in the water)
about a year ago my daughter had a beta. it was actually doing pretty good till she changed the water. Any one with an aquarium will tell you that you have to let tap water sit for at least 24 hours or use a neutralizer to get rid of the chlorine.
Well AJ didn't know that. usually the tap water will kill the fish.. but we have enough chlorine and chemical in our city water system that it killed the fish and bleached it pale white in the matter of less than an hour. Not really what I want to drink in my morning coffee.
Oh if your interested we went with a Rainsoft system.
